Colleen Hawkins on Twitter: "So, remember all #NHS staff, if he ever turns up at A&E with breathing difficulties, Laurence Fox is exempt from wearing a face mask. Respect his wishes &

This would be funny were not Fox now again calling for people to ignore Masks.

Now if there’s one thing worse than Johnson it’s…

How long before this Public Nuisance gets in on the act?

  1. Considering how quickly the public dropped the use of masks like a steaming turd, the outrage is hardly surprising.
What is surprising though is in how many members of the public believe/believed if you simply got jabbed and donned a mask that you were teflon.
But when you have certain keys facts kept in the metaphorical small print as so to speak, spun by government, medical/pharmaceutical businesses and watchdogs alike, it was only a matter of time before reality didn’t equal the mantra.

The question now though is in how the larger public act in moving forward who most certainly dont and wont need to be solicited by conspiracies true or not.

  2. It has never been claimed by any Health body that wearing a mask stops you from being infected. The purpose of masks has always been to stop those already infected from passing on the infection to others, because what the mask does do is to catch any particles of the virus before they can become airborne.

The means of preventing serious illness from virus that is already airborne is via immunity, whether that is natural immunity resulting from previous infection, or artificial immunity arising vaccination. Again the immunity does not prevent infection as such – which is why despite high levels of herd immunity you can still have high levels of infection – but it does prevent any infection from multiplying in the body, and, thereby, causing serious ill-health.

So, to be honest, mask wearing is pretty irrelevant. In fact, it could be counterproductive. Wearing a mask will not stop you being infected, and the way to avoid serious illness is not wearing a mask, it is getting vaccinated! If people think there is no urgency in getting vaccinated, because they can instead just wear a mask, it would be definitely counter-productive. The only point of masks is to reduce the chance of those who are infectious spreading it to others, but if all those others are either vaccinated or otherwise immune the issue of them becoming seriously ill does not exist.

The emphasis is on people – particularly those in the at risk cohort – to get vaccinated. Focusing on any other metric, and going down the route of insisting on those already immune wearing masks is a dangerous diversion.

  3. Of course, it isn’t just the right, is it ? Take a bow, expectedly, Skwakie. Now on this occasion it isn’t Mr Walker or his organ – the old curmudgeon comments on the new fears reasonably enough, making the same points that most are making about the need to see a “Marshall Plan” for vaccine distribution outwith of the developed world. But no such inhibitions for his strange stage army of the unhinged on his BTL section. Almost all go into full-blooded conspis mode automatically, with one – clearly like the famous headless chicken still pacing the coop – averring (with no discernible linkage) – “PS As for Blue Keef and his Thatcherite Neo-New-Labour Party Parasite TORIES they are PURE TORY and will never get in the way of the Elites/Establishment’s Orders, just following their orders as expected.” Feast on https://skwawkbox.org/2021/11/27/omicron-variant-hits-uk-as-two-cases-confirmed/

  4. Its interesting that the time when masks could have been most effective is two years ago, when the amount of infection was low, and no herd immunity had developed by either natural infection or vaccine. At that time, a blanket wearing of masks could have prevented those infected from spreading it, by preventing the virus from becoming airborne. However, at that time, the WHO and the various national public bodies such as SAGE argued again wearing masks, saying they would not be effective, and could be counterproductive, by denying them to health staff etc.

That is just part of the appalling record of the WHO, and all of those scientific advisors that have taken its lead, when it comes to a response to COVID. At every stage they got it wrong, and seemed more concerned with undertaking a PR exercise to avoid criticism by a sensationalist media. Of course, preventing a mass application of mask wearing 2 years ago, when it could have been effective – and probably was in much of Asia where people have traditionally done so – played a big part in the more rapid spread of the virus, whilst health advice again wrongly had been chasing around concerned about spread on hard surfaces, post and so on, which it turned out was also wrong. Nor did deterring people from wearing masks make them available for NHS workers et al. That failure to provide PPE for its workers was just one part of the criminally negligent role of the NHS, which saw it become the main vector for the spread of the virus amongst the most vulnerable.

Now when the wearing of masks is pretty meaningless, because the way to stop serious illness is via herd immunity, preferably via vaccination, the WHO and those that mindlessly follow it, are advocating it! When all of this is over there should be a serious workers inquiry into the role of the WHO, and all of the other scientific bodies advising governments, because it has been atrocious.
