Godsiff Backed anti-Gay protests: “Never Been Afraid to Speak Out ” – “even when what I say may not be ‘politically correct”.

The Guardian reports,

A former Labour MP has confirmed he will run as an independent in the general election after the party withdrew its support for him after he backed protesters in an LGBT teaching row.

Roger Godsiff, 73, who had been the Labour MP for Birmingham Hall Green, was told this week by the national executive committee (NEC) that he would not be endorsed as a candidate in the December poll and someone else would run in his place.

On Thursday, Godsiff announced he would run for election in his former constituency as an Independent Labour candidate.

He said that “a small intolerant vindictive group within the LGBT community” had carried out a “vicious and vindictive campaign of character assassination against me using social media and misinformation to stir up a witch-hunt”.

The constituency is home to Anderton Park primary school, which was at the centre of a series of school gate protests earlier this year. It led to a court injunction banning demonstrations inside an exclusion zone around the site.

Godsiff was criticised after telling protesters they had a “just cause”. The shadow education secretary, Angela Rayner, reported the “discriminatory and irresponsible” comments to the chief whip, Nick Brown.

He was then reprimanded by the chief whip and instructed not to repeat his comments.

In a statement, Godsiff said: “I have always put the interests of my constituents above everything else and I don’t succumb to threats. I have supported the rights of parents to have a say, not a veto, over how the most sensitive aspects of the Equality Act are taught to young children.”

This has not gone down well with Labour members in his constituency.

Godsiff is a hard line pro-Brexiteer, hostile to freedom of movement in the EU, and is not shy of taking any extra money his position gives him access to.

Wikipedia sums up the man and his works,

“Britain’s Laziest MP (2011)”

Andy McSmith‘s book Faces of Labour (1996), contends that Godsiff obtained selection for his seat in 1992 by dubious means which, although accepted by the Labour Party, were too late to act upon. In 2005, Tribune made similar allegations about his successful bid to stave off deselection, which was only thwarted by the local votes of his former employer, the GMB Union. Godsiff had angered many in his local party by his calls for curbs on immigration.

Godsiff also attracted attention in the 2009 parliamentary expenses scandal, where he was reported as using office expenses for extensive roofing work, rewiring, replacement guttering and even clock repair at a property he owns.[15] He incurred the second highest expenses of all 647 MPs’ for 2008/2009 with claims for £189,338.[16]

Further controversy followed when he used images of convicted child sex offender and nursery worker Vanessa George in campaign material for the 2010 election, claiming the Liberal Democrats were seeking for “convicted murderers, rapists and paedophiles to be given the vote”, which the Lib Dems denied was their policy. The local campaign was later scrapped.[17]

In 2011, The Guardian declared that, based on his participation in votes, Godsiff was “Britain’s laziest MP”, being absent from 88% of votes at the start of that year. He has attended less than 50% of parliamentary debates during his whole time in office and refuses to take any part in hustings meetings.[18] He responded to the Birmingham Mail about his participation, saying “when you are in opposition and the government has a substantial majority, you know perfectly well that you aren’t going to be able to have an effect on every vote”.[19]

Godsiff opposed marriage equality in 2013, saying that he did not want to “[redefine] the current definition of marriage.”[20] In May 2019, in the wake of protests in Birmingham over LGBT-inclusive education in primary schools, Godsiff sided with the protestors: “I have concerns about the age appropriateness of children of four and five being introduced to these ideas”, he said, later admitting that he had not read the books. Anderton Park Primary School in Sparkhill, which has been at the centre of the row, is in Godsiff’s constituency. He has defended his voting record on equality legislation, stating, “I am supportive of the LGBT community. I have consistently voted for all laws pertaining to equality and to defend the rights of everyone to live the lifestyle they choose.

We await further comment from the Red-Brown Spiked, who also backed the bigots’ protest.

Those protesting Muslim parents are in the right

It is the LGBT education programme that is the real authoritarian force.

It started in January at Parkfield Community School in Saltley, Birmingham…..

  1. A comrade has just reminded me: “I don’t want to suggest that Godsiff’s and Williamson’s motives are any thing less than of the highest political principle, but if an someone ceases to be an MP after an election defeat they get a big chunk of what is effect redundancy pay – they do not get this if they don’t stand for any reason (including being deselected by their party). This is paid at a rate of twice statutory redundancy pay (probably £30k of Godsiff, but considerably less for Williamson). Maybe they are both not only bastards, but chiselling bastards.”

  4. The man who has been leading the protests against Anderton Park primary school’s teaching of lessons about LGBT relationships has posted videos encouraging people to get behind Independent Labour candidate for Birmingham Hall Green, Roger Godsiff. In one of the videos (see below), he talks about children being taught to masturbate and ‘stick their fingers up their arse’.

  5. One would think that we have all masturbated, including Mr Godsiff, at some point in our lives.
