  1. This is still peddling the lie that EU citizens will be deported after Brexit. It’s not going to happen but that doesn’t stop the hysterical left.

  2. Whether or not EU citizens are likely to be deported, many have received deportation notices from the Home Office, and May has succeeded in creating the “inhospitable atmosphere” she previous threatened all “illegal” immigrants with. Then, of course, there’s the spike in hate crime immediately following the leave vote, and continuing increased levels of racist attacks and incidents.

the simple fact is that the Leave vote was largely motivated by racism, xenophobia and generally reactionary social agenda, the Brexit continues to foster, encourage and legitimise backwardness in all its forms.

  4. Jum Denham is therefore saying that the 50 whatever per cent of the electorate that voted Brexit did so because of their racism, xenophobia and a generally reactionary social agenda. That must include the Asians I do business with who all voted out.

  5. Yes … unless you think Asian people are uniquely immune to those forms of false consciousness, Dave.

  6. @Jim Denham

“unless you think Asian people are uniquely immune to those forms of false consciousness”,

hahaha! and are you, Mr Jim, immune to all forms of ‘false consciousness’?
Are you and the AWL the unique and true possessors of ‘true consciousness’?

Are you trying to tell me that George Galloway and the CPGB ML, and Piers Corbyn are all victims of ‘false consciousness’.

why are you trying to resurrect an old and discredited theory of ‘false consciousness’?

  7. False consciousness is of course the reason why the working class didn’t vote for the revolution but preferred to pay off the mortgage and retire early instead. It sounds like Jim Denham is a Marxist and therefore completely screwed.

  8. I kind-of believe that my views and those of the AWL, are, kind-of … superior to those of most other people. Geddit?

If I didn’t believe that, I wouldn’t hold those views in the first place.
    Geddit?

  9. How arrogant, and ultimately sad? It is this inability to be self critical and also, and possibly most importantly, to have a sense of humour, that has been the downfall of the far left. Oh, and thinking the Bolshevik coup de etat was the best thing since sliced bread. What exactly is or was the AWL?

  10. Had a google of AWL it it looks like you are, or were, what we used to call in the 70s, Matgammna;s lot. I met him a couple of times in east London. Stark raving bonkers! How he used to find his way around the tube system I never knew.

  13. Who is this Dave Roberts? I’ve never heard of him, so perhaps he doesn’t exist. Also, he’s clearly bonkers. His name only ever appears here.

  14. Hello Jim Denham. I have only ever seen you gobbing off on sites like this. I was born in The London Hospital in 1947 and lived in what is now Tower Hamlets until I moved out to Dagenham and then Chigwell starting about twenty years ago.

My first home was Orange Court off Wapping High Street. We were then rehoused to Greenbank in Wapping until I moved with my young family to the Coop in Stephen and Matilda just after it was started in 1975.

I was a bricklayer all my life and my father was a docker. We are Irish Catholics and my dad was at Cable St in 1936 with the Jews who were our neighbours and as poor as us.

I have worked hard and done well.

    Who the fuck are you?

  18. “This is still peddling the lie that EU citizens will be deported after Brexit. It’s not going to happen but that doesn’t stop the hysterical left.” – Dave Brown.

    1. The cartoon was dealing with the “reassurance” from Dan Hannan Tory MEP that the rights of EU citizens would not be affected after Brexit. He said, “It’s irresponsible to scare EU nationals in the UK by suggesting that their stays might cane after Brexit. No one is suggesting such a thing” (03/03/16).

    2. EU citizens have, of course, received no reassurance from the government about their status. Indeed the UK Govt website states that for those EU citizens who have “Permanent Residency”, this will not be valid after we leave the EU.

    3. It has been reported that EU citizens have already been deported under extremely dubious grounds. As reported in The Independent –

“The EU’s citizens’ rights directive makes clear that it is illegal for member states to expel EU citizens “except on serious grounds of public policy or public security”. Controversially, UK ministers are now interpreting this to include so-called offences such as sleeping on the streets.”

As to what will happen to EU citizens after we finally leave the EU, it is difficult to say. It’s no wonder though that the EU want to try and put the rights of their citizens in the UK as a priority rather than leave it up to the UK Govt who have been shown to send out deportation letters which they have later admitted were “mistakes”. Someone, somewhere wrote the letters and someone, somewhere gave them the green light – maybe the only mistake was that they were sent out pre leaving the EU rather than after.

  19. What will happen is that essential workers and people with families and ties to the UK will remain. The unemployed claiming benefits and criminals are of course at risk. Anything else? Jim Denham has gone shtum. Good thing as well!
