British ‘Vicar of Baghdad’ claims Isis beheaded four children for refusing to convert to Islam

Isis have beheaded four Christian children in Iraq for refusing to convert to Islam, a British vicar based in the country has claimed.

Canon Andrew White, who is known as the ‘vicar of Baghdad’,told Orthodox Christian Network that the killings happened in a Christian enclave close to Baghdad which has been taken over by Isis (formerly known as Islamic State).

He spoke of how Isis has “hounded” the Christians out of Iraq, and how “they killed in huge numbers, they chopped their children in half, they chopped their heads off, and they moved north and it was so terrible what happened”.

He told the network that militants “came to one of our people the other day, one of the Christians”.

“They said to one man, an adult, ‘Either you say the words of conversion to Islam or we kill all your children’.

“He was desperate, he said the words. And then he phoned me, and said, ‘Abouna [Father], I said the words, does that mean that Yeshua doesn’t’ love me anymore?’ I said, ‘Yeshua still loves you, he will always love you”.

Canon White claimed that the children who were beheaded had refused to “follow Mohammed”.

“Isis turned up and said to the children, ‘You say the words that you will follow Mohammed’.”

“The children, all under 15, four of them, said no, we love Yeshua, we have always loved we have always followed Yeshua, Yeshua has always been with us.

“They said: ‘Say the words.’ They said ‘No, we can’t.’ They chopped all their heads off. How do you respond to that? You just cry.”

Canon White said that Isis were threatening to kill him, and that he is now living in Israel, following orders from the Archbishop of Canterbury to leave Iraq. He said that most of his staff are still in the north of Iraq trying to look after displaced Christians.

Canon Andrew Wright (Blog)  is amongst the most beloved of all progressive humanity.

Those clamouring for an amnesty for those who joined the genociders should consider acts like these.

  1. Thank you for flagging up this awful story, Andrew.

  2. Thanks for signaling it – it wasn’t in the 30 pence ‘I’ that I read every day.

Canon Andrew Wright has great courage.

He is a true “witness”; he stands for what is right.

Goodness is too important to be divided by faith or non-faith.

  3. Your current, fellow travellers, have basically justified the invasion and mass murder of populations via carpet bombing, drones etc on the basis that a regime has carried out systematic torture. The drone supporting left websites are full of torture by Saddam, Gadaffi, Assad etc.

Will you now be arguing for the carpet bombing of US cities as a response to the CIA report and should any presidents implicated be executed?

PS is this story a fact or do we have another Mother Agnès-Mariam de la Croix – someone who I think you doubted, despite her first hand experience?

  4. It’s not just the arguments about amnesty that should concern us: what about those (admittedly small) elements on the “left” who actually give some degree of support to the animals of ISIS?

  5. Would that be a reference to those who were vehement in their support for Western bombings in Syria in support of the jihadis, Jimbo? ISIS would be in Damascus now if you clowns had had your way – and thanks, SIOB, for reminding us of the time when the Coates and Denhams of this world were anxious to downplay jihadi violence, and smear those who highlighted it.

  6. I did not support Western bombings in Syria in support of the jihadists, or Western intervention ,

“The Sceptical Case for Opposing Western Intervention in Syria” August 26th 2013.

“Yet the hard-line Islamist groups, Salafists and Jihadists (list here) within the armed opposition have not stopped growing.

They have shown utter contempt for democracy and human life.

Their hatred of minorities, from Christians, Alawites, to the Kurds, has been demonstrated through gore and horror.

The Al-Nusra Front has already threatened Alwaite villagers (not Assad) as a reprisal against alleged Chemical warfare.

Many of us would not put much faith in a Saudi backed force to replace them – or to rein them in.

The West’s action will be pouring petrol on the fire.

    Oppose Western Intervention!”

Kind of like a blowback thing, you mean?

  8. Until a few months ago, Assad’s forces had studiously avoided fighting each other, preferring to concentrate on their mutual enemies, the secular Syrian rebels. Indeed, beginning over ten years ago, what is now ISIS was hosted and enabled by the Assads, as Peter Neumann has documented here:

    http://www.lrb.co.uk/v36/n07/peter-neumann/suspects-into-collaborators

    As Neumann shows:

“In the years that preceded the uprising, Assad and his intelligence services took the view that jihad could be nurtured and manipulated to serve the Syrian government’s aims. It was then that foreign jihadists first entered the country and helped to build the structures and supply lines that are now being used to fight the government. To that extent Assad is fighting an enemy he helped to create.”

In so far as anyone else created ISIS, it was the Syrian Baathist regime. Its apologists ought by now to be aware of that – and held to account for it. Leaving aside their putrid support for a regime that barrel-bombs its own civilians, they have no moral ground whatsoever to lecture the rest of us about ISIS.

  9. And before the straw men arrive, I opposed any western involvement in supporting the toppling of Assad, on the grounds that it would probably make a horrible and complicated situation worse, that there is no such thing as a ‘moderate’ Islamist jihadist, and that groups like Al Nusra wwre liable to go over to the side of ISIS anyway.

I approve of any – including western – support for the Kurds and others who are actually fighting the ISIS butchers. The Syrian regime has done very little to make amends for its hosting ISIS in the basement for all these years.

Interesting but not surprising that the beheading of Christian children just gets a shrug and a sneering “whatabout…” from some supposed ‘socialists’ on here. And that they have zero support for the secular socialist Kurds who have done far more to take on ISIS than their beloved Assad has done.

Assad’s air force killed three times as many civilians in one single raid on Raqqa than the USAF has killed in hundreds of raids over four months. Time to get off the high horse about mythical US ‘carpet bombing’, especially when Assad is your ‘precision’ bomber of choice.

  10. “In so far as anyone else created ISIS, it was the Syrian Baathist regime”.
Gosh, this blowback thing really works, doesn’t it? I had thought that to attribute the rise of ISIS to anything other than the intrinsic wickedness of Islamism was to be an abject apologist for Islamism.
” I opposed any western involvement in supporting the toppling of Assad”
Oh get over yourself you ludicrous posturing clown. You aren’t national security adviser, you’re some hysterical loser with a laptop. Who gives a fuck what you oppose or favour?

  11. I see Coates and the drone supporting leftists are still playing the game of pretending they were against all these imperialist crimes, when they always give every impression of being slavish supporters. A cursory glance at this cesspit of imperialist apologetics will make you realise what they are and what they serve.

This website could easily feature on the Fox news channel, given what it talks about and what it omits. Coates is fooling no one.

You only have to look at his fellow travelers, for example, that odious creature Denham. One day supporter of the ISIS animals (in Libya, Syria) then the next day passionate opponent! When Assad falls in Syria he will turn on the rebellion as quick as you can say puppet regime, just as they have done in Libya.

Coates, Denham, the lot of them are total scum, as much an enemy of the left as ISIS.

But anyway,if we were told Mother Agnès-Mariam de la Croix was not to be believed about the nature of the Syrian opposition, she detailed their horrific acts, why are now now told we should believe the British ‘Vicar of Baghdad’. maybe he is simply a lying propagandist. Seems like an ideal candidate for that role to me.

It is a rhetorical question of course, the answer is simple, Coates and his band of scum are nothing but imperialist apologists, you really don’t need to know anymore than that.

  13. @ Puss Wall Green

I said “In so far as anyone else created ISIS…” YOu were happy enough to snidely talk of blowback when
you yourself fancied you could blame it all on the USA (and it’s not blowback anyway – blowback hits those who initiate the fire, and the victims in Syria you can’t even bring yourself to mention have been overwhelmingly non-American civilians, whether slaughtered by Assad or by ISIS). When the role of Assad in actively helping create ISIS is pointed out, you find your cretinous and callous ‘blowback’ jeer less useful and respond with yet more ignorant, inaccurate crap. That’s about your level, evidently.

    @ socialism in one bedroom

“One day supporter of the ISIS animals (in Libya, Syria) then the next day passionate opponent!

Neither Coates nor Denham have ever supported ISIS or anything like them. They have supported secular rebels, not the jihadist kind. Evidently you aren’t clued-up enough in your bedroom to understand that both exist and that the former have been at war with the latter far longer and more energetically than Assad has.

You are an apologist for a regime that has murdered hundreds of thousands of Syrian civilians, including the random barrel bombing of civilians in towns held by its enemies.
