The Line on Torchwood.

Comrades.
Watched Torchwood all week, Children of Earth, like I imagine millions of us here. Can I say how political it is.
And bloody brilliant.
456. What a menace! The Brownite-Blairite Ministers deciding to sacrifice the ‘less able’ children off the council estates. The celebration of gay love. The stand of the brave revolutionary woman Lois Habiba. Cap’n Jack saying an injury to one is an injury to all.
Comrades from Torchwood – there’s a place for you in the Workers’ United Front!
“So left, two, three!
So left, two, three!
Comrade, there’s a place for you.
Take your stand in the workers united front
For you are a worker too!”
Brecht.
Hmm, can’t say I agree with you on this one TC. Last night’s episode was just a reflection of the fashionable cynicism of politicians. Nothing radical there. Now if you like real political sci-fi then you can’t beat the new Battlestar Galactica. Or try Stargate SG1 with it’s liberal interventionist narrative.
As for Torchwood- Crapwood more like!

I don’t have Sky and I live in a Digital Black Hole – seriously we can’t get it as free-view in central Ipswich unless we pay out for cable. So I am not up on Galatica.
Is it really that good?

Hi,
Battlestar Galactica (reimagined) is absolutely brilliant – quite riveting ‘military sci-fi’ with a philosophical edge. Highly recommended.
Indeed, Andrew, would you consider doing a review of “Torchwood” for the “Weekly Worker”? As you know, the “WW” always likes to be on the cutting edge of popular culture, to show that we are with the kids …

you mean the new Battlestar Galactica series? … the 1970ies series and movies had an authoritarian message

I feel like an anarchist, having never watched those series.
